Lyrical tragedy  in five acts created on December 4, 1718 at the Royal Academy of Music

For the first time since 1718, Les Ombres, unearthers of forgotten masterpieces, restore André Cardinal Destouches' Semiramis.

The musician-musketeer, successor of Lully, and precursor of Rameau, proves in his latest lyrical tragedy his talent as a playwright and orchestrator. The libretto, which is provided to him by Pierre-Charles Roy, retraces the fatal fate of the legendary queen of Babylon, as powerful as she is cruel, who defies her kingdom, Love, and the Gods, in a work emblematic of her time.

The choir of Le Concert Spirituel joins this adventure for a first collaboration with the ensemble Les Ombres.
