30th anniversary o the Concert Spirituel / A fictional opera

From the most beautiful moments of the French baroque operas that he’s been exploring with delight since 30 years with his Concert Spirituel, Hervé Niquet recreates his « own » opera!

You’ll recognize the typical landmarks of baroque: desperate lovers, tempest, travel to the underworld, several Gods’ apparitions… and listen to the parts you love so much from Lully’s Armida, Charpentier’s Medea to Marin Marais’ Semele (The Eartquake), by ways of Campra’s Carnival of Venice. The sparkling magic of baroque opera will be yours for a celebratory evening… during which Hervé Niquet, always true to himself, will also make you discover some unexpected jewels!

It should not be forgotten that opera stages were also an area in which the engineers and mathematicians of the seventeenth century carried out experiments. In 2017, therefore, it seems appropriate to use 3D video to create fantastical visions which have thrilled young and old alike since the dawn of opera.
